What erection rings are
What is an erection ring?
An erection ring is a soft band worn at the base of the penis that slows blood from flowing back out, so an erection stays firmer for longer. FirmTech's rings are doctor designed, made of medical-grade elastomer, and loop around both the base of the penis and behind the testicles for an anatomical peno-scrotal fit.
Do erection rings actually work?
Erection rings work mechanically: gentle, even pressure at the base helps hold blood in place while the ring is worn. FirmTech says its rings work from the first time you wear one, with no pills and no waiting. The effect lasts only as long as the ring stays on, so a ring supports an erection rather than creating one.
Is a c ring the same as an erection ring?
Yes, "c ring" is a common informal name for the same kind of device, also called a constriction ring, penis ring or ED ring. All of them apply pressure at the base to keep blood in. FirmTech rings differ from a simple single band because they use two loops, one at the base of the penis and one behind the testicles.
What are erection tension rings?
Erection tension rings are constriction bands, often sold for use with a vacuum erection device, placed at the base after an erection to keep blood from draining. Mayo Clinic describes the principle: a ring slipped on after pumping traps the blood and keeps the erection firm for up to 30 minutes, as cited in RxSleeve's 2026 ED ring comparison guide.
Do I need erectile dysfunction to use an erection ring?
No. FirmTech rings are sold to men who want firmer, longer-lasting erections, whether or not they have a diagnosis, and they need no prescription. Men who do have erectile dysfunction often use a ring alongside other treatments. FirmTech suggests talking to your doctor about your own situation before combining approaches.
Does an erection ring block ejaculation?
No. FirmTech says its rings keep blood in without blocking release, so ejaculation is not restricted. The MaxPR is described as giving heightened sensation and a more intense finish because of its snugger hold, while the Performance Ring and TechRing use a more moderate tension that FirmTech rates 3 of 5.
What is a wearable device for erectile dysfunction?
A wearable device for erectile dysfunction is something worn on the body, rather than a pill, that supports or measures erections. FirmTech's TechRing is one example: it works as a constriction ring during sex and uses built-in sensors to measure firmness, quality and duration, plus nighttime erections, with results shown in a phone app.
Choosing a FirmTech ring
Which FirmTech ring should I buy?
Choose the TechRing ($275) if you want performance support plus data on every session and every night. Choose the Performance Ring ($60) for simple, comfortable support with nothing to charge. Choose the MaxPR ($60) if you want the tightest fit and most intensity and only need it for up to 90 minutes at a time.
What is the difference between the Performance Ring and the MaxPR?
The MaxPR is slimmer and snugger than the Performance Ring. FirmTech rates the MaxPR's tightness 5 of 5 and the Performance Ring's 3 of 5. The Performance Ring can be worn up to 12 hours and the MaxPR up to 90 minutes. Both cost $60, carry a 3-month warranty and have no sensors.
Is the TechRing worth $275 over a $60 ring?
It depends on whether you want data. All three FirmTech rings support firmer, longer-lasting erections. The extra $215 for the TechRing buys built-in sensors, a Bluetooth app, nighttime erection tracking, a rechargeable 12-hour battery and a 1-year warranty instead of 3 months. If you only want the feel, a $60 ring does that job.
Can I buy two rings together?
Yes. FirmTech sells bundles that pair the TechRing with a Performance Ring or MaxPR for $295, compared with $335 bought separately, a $40 saving. Bundles with the RingMate vibrator and the VaxAid Deluxe pump are also listed. These prices are as shown on FirmTech's shop page in November 2026.
Which ring is best for a first-time user?
The Performance Ring is the simplest place to start: $60, adjustable, a moderate 3 of 5 tightness, safe to wear up to 12 hours, and nothing to charge or pair. Men who already know they want measurements from day one can start with the TechRing, which uses the same moderate tightness rating.
Can I use a FirmTech ring with a partner?
Yes. FirmTech rings work the same way solo or with a partner, and the TechRing tracks every session either way. FirmTech also sells the RingMate, a three-speed vibrator for her that slides onto any FirmTech ring, for $69 on its own or $120 bundled with a Performance Ring or MaxPR.
Can I use a ring alongside ED medication?
Many men use the TechRing alongside other treatments and use the app to see what is working, according to FirmTech. FirmTech's research list includes an ISSM 2024 presentation comparing PDE5 inhibitors, the Performance Ring, and both together. Ask your doctor before combining any treatments, since the right approach depends on your health.
Sizing and fit
Is there an ED ring size chart for FirmTech rings?
FirmTech rings come in one size, so there is no multi-size chart to pick from. One size fits 95% of men, up to 5.5 inches (14 cm) of erect girth, and the hook-and-loop strap adjusts to your exact size. If your erect girth is above 5.5 inches, the rings are outside their listed fit range.
How do I measure my girth for an erection ring?
When erect, wrap a soft tape measure or a piece of string around the base of the penis and read the length. If it is 5.5 inches (14 cm) or less, FirmTech rings fit. Measure at the base, where the ring actually sits, and if you use string, lay it flat against a ruler to read it.
What if the ring does not fit me?
FirmTech offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, which it describes as risk-free. If a ring does not fit, you can start a return through FirmTech's online returns portal with your order number and email. For anything else, FirmTech's contact page routes your question to customer service, which replies in 1 to 2 business days.
How tight should an erection ring be?
Snug but not tight. FirmTech's instructions say to fasten the strap snug, and its design notes say pressure should be firm but never too tight. If you feel pain, numbness or coldness, loosen or remove the ring. The adjustable hook-and-loop strap lets you set the tension on all three FirmTech rings.
Can I put the ring on before an erection?
Yes. FirmTech rings are designed to go on when you are soft, so you can put one on discreetly ahead of time. It takes a few seconds: open the loop, drop the testicles through it, set the second loop around the base of the penis, then adjust the strap for comfort.
Will a FirmTech ring fit if I am larger than 5.5 inches?
FirmTech lists all three rings as fitting up to 5.5 inches of erect girth, so a larger girth falls outside the stated fit range. Before buying, contact FirmTech's customer service through its contact page to ask about your measurements. Note that this limit is girth around the base, not length.
Using a ring
How do I put on a FirmTech ring?
Open the loop, drop the testicles through it, then bring the second loop around the base of the penis so one loop sits under the testicles and the other sits at the base. Fine-tune the strap for comfort. FirmTech says this takes a few seconds and can be done before an erection.
What lube can I use with an erection ring?
Use water-based or silicone-based lubricants only. FirmTech says not to use natural oil lubricants such as coconut oil or CBD oil with any of its rings. FirmTech sells Sliquid Naturals Silver, a silicone lubricant it describes as lasting for hours, from $18 as an accessory.
How do I clean an erection ring?
Rinse it with warm water and mild soap after each use, then dry it. The Performance Ring and MaxPR are water resistant and the TechRing is splashproof. FirmTech suggests replacing the TechRing's sleeve about every 30 nights, and replacement sleeves start at $15.
How long can I wear an erection ring?
It depends on the ring. FirmTech lists the TechRing and Performance Ring as safe to wear for up to 12 hours, and the TechRing is designed for overnight wear. The MaxPR, its tightest ring, is limited to 90 minutes at a time. Remove any ring sooner if it becomes uncomfortable.
Can I sleep in an erection ring?
The TechRing is designed and studied for overnight wear, according to FirmTech, and is safe for up to 12 hours. FirmTech lists a presentation on the safety of a smart penile constriction ring worn overnight at AUA 2024. The MaxPR's 90-minute limit rules it out for sleep.
How quickly does an erection ring work?
An erection ring works while you wear it, from the first use. FirmTech describes its rings as needing no pills, no prescription and no planning ahead, so there is no waiting period. The flip side is that the effect ends when the ring comes off, because the support is purely mechanical.
TechRing data and the app
What does the TechRing measure?
The TechRing measures erection firmness, quality and duration during sex, and the count, strength and length of nighttime erections while you sleep. The FirmTech app rolls these readings into one Erectile Fitness Score from 0 to 100, with insights on what affects it, such as sleep, drinks, workouts and medication.
What is the Erectile Fitness Score?
The Erectile Fitness Score is a single number from 0 to 100 in the FirmTech app that rolls up every TechRing session so you can see your trend at a glance. You can log sleep, drinks, workouts and medication, and the app shows which of those factors move your score up or down.
Why track nighttime erections?
Nighttime erections happen without arousal, so FirmTech treats them as a clean read of blood flow. Healthy men have 3 to 5 erections a night during sleep, according to FirmTech. Because penile arteries are smaller than the heart's, FirmTech notes that changes in circulation often show up there first.
Which phones work with the FirmTech app?
The FirmTech app works with iPhone and Android and connects to the TechRing over Bluetooth. The app is free with the TechRing. Setup takes three steps: charge the ring with the included USB cable, download the app and pair over Bluetooth, then wear the ring during sex or overnight.
How long does the TechRing battery last?
Up to 12 hours on a full charge, and a full charge takes 2 to 4 hours with the included USB charger. After a night of wear, hold the button for 3 seconds, put the ring on the charger, and connect to it in the app to sync the night's data.
Is my TechRing data private?
FirmTech says TechRing data is stored securely, handled to HIPAA standards, and never sold or shared with advertisers. You choose whether a doctor can see it and can stop sharing at any time. You can also delete your data and account from inside the app whenever you want.
Is the TechRing clinically studied?
FirmTech lists published research on the TechRing, including a 2025 paper on wearable penile devices in Translational Andrology and Urology. A clinical trial comparing the TechRing with RigiScan, the clinic standard, has 35 men enrolled. FirmTech reports more than 308,000 erections analyzed and more than 20 studies published or underway.
How often should I wear the TechRing overnight?
FirmTech says wearing the TechRing once a week gives a clearer picture of your vascular and sexual health. A single night says little on its own; FirmTech notes that weeks of nights show a real trend. One verified reviewer wrote that he found it best to build up to overnight wear over time.
Safety and side effects
What are the side effects of erection rings?
With constriction rings in general, most problems come from wearing one too tight or too long: discomfort, numbness, coldness or bruising. FirmTech's limits are 12 hours for the TechRing and Performance Ring and 90 minutes for the MaxPR. Remove a ring at once if it hurts, and see a doctor about any symptom that persists.
Who should not use an erection ring?
Men with a bleeding disorder or who take blood thinners should talk to a doctor before using any erection ring; that is FirmTech's own recommendation. Anyone with a condition affecting blood flow or sensation should also get personal advice first, because FirmTech rings are sold without a prescription and no one screens buyers.
Are FirmTech rings safe?
FirmTech rings are made of soft, medical-grade elastomer that is phthalate-free and latex-free, with nothing hard or rigid. They are designed with leading urologists, and FirmTech describes its products as FDA registered. Follow each ring's wear-time limit, avoid oil-based lubricants, and see a doctor about any persistent pain.
Are FirmTech rings latex-free?
Yes. All three FirmTech rings use medical-grade elastomer that is phthalate-free and latex-free, according to FirmTech's comparison page. That makes them an option for men who avoid latex, though anyone with a known allergy to other materials should check with a doctor before use.
What should I do if a ring hurts?
Loosen or remove it right away. Pain, numbness or a cold feeling means the pressure is too high or the ring has been on too long. Next time, use the adjustable strap to reduce tension and stay within the ring's wear limit, and see a doctor if symptoms do not settle.
Can erection changes be a sign of a health problem?
They can be. FirmTech notes that erections depend on healthy blood vessels and that changes in circulation often appear in erections before other symptoms. A ring and its data are not a diagnosis, so anyone noticing a change in erections should talk to a doctor about the cause.
